In the event that Blood Omen and future LoK titles appear on GoG, and the appropriate boards are merged, I'm posting this question here.

I've been playing through Blood Omen, going for all the secrets this time, and I've just passed Uschtenhiem on my way to Dark Eden (I'd forgotten that the Heart of Darkness Spirit Forge was a big letdown; it only doles out two of these valuable items per blood sacrifice, meaning you can't just fill up your meter with a couple, and then sacrifice your meter for a bunch), and I encountered something I never encountered before, in any previous playthrough. It's what I assume to be a meteor shower, accompanied by the "You've encountered this for the first time" monologue, saying something about 'angels' tears falling from the Heavens'. This is the PSX version, so it's not 'restored' cut content. I don't think it is, anyway. I'm pretty sure Silicon Knights didn't put anything in that wasn't on the PC version.

So how are are these things? Do they occur anywhere, or are they confined to certain areas of the world, the way snowfall is confined to mountainous areas (Dark Eden is on an active volcano, so it might be this is not a meteor shower, but an eruption, but then Kain would have mentioned seeing the mountain erupt or something, wouldn't he?)? I'm assuming there's no Blood Fountain for protection against them, and from what I've witnessed, I only take damage from the meteors that produce smallish flame 'spouts' when they impact the ground, and not throughout the whole event.

It dawned on me that part of the description for the Iron Armour was "forged from hellfire". Wearing it provided me with protection from the meteors, but not from the lava, though I did take less damage from accidentally stepping in it.
I know that there are some 'rare' events. As this conversation (starting with the post 133) shows the meteor shower also happens (although rarely) in Avernus.

And you know that the blood you offer in forges doesn't have to be your blood right? ;-)
See, I still don't get what that means. What am I supposed to do, drag a body with me?

It can't possibly have that long a range. Can it? I mean, there's a 'backdoor' teleport to the Heart of Darkness Spirit Forge in Ushchtenhiem, but I thought Control Mind only worked in the same room it was cast in, or at least cancelled itself if the victim walked onto a teleport (I seem to remember an instance of using Control Mind to take a guy through a series of rooms to hit a secret switch, or maybe it was a switch required to progress; It was a while ago, so I don't remember exactly).

Will it work with ghosts? Green/black-blooded monsters? Or just live humans?

Also, what's up with the black, conical obelisk/monolith things? I've only seen a couple, one in the area where you get the Lightning spell, and another somewhere else (I've forgotten, it was much earlier in the game). They've got four red symbols on them, similar in appearance to the ones outside the Spirit Forges. The base of these things look like teleport pads, so I'm assuming they're there to 'lock' said pad. I can't figure out how to get rid of them.

control mind for humans, Spirit Wrack for anything else (and humans)
In general, if you find a backdoor, you can mind-control a human into it and to the forge.

Sacrificing someone else maxes out the forge item for you.
They seem to like (fat) humans, villagers particularly, better than anything else.

I'm still trying to figure out what the black cones with the symbols on them are. I'm just assuming for now that they're teleport pad locks, and they'll 'unlock' after I do the time travel thing.

Can you post a pic of the obelisks?
Not really, no. I said it's the PSX version, and I don't really have any video capture devices. The last one I saw was directly to the right of where I picked up the Lightning Spell.
I've tried looking and can't find a pic. If you find one I'll have a look and see what I can tell you.
I know where all 100 secrets are, and that these cones have nothing to do with them, and that's the limit of my curiosity. If you want to play the game through to the Lightning Spell area, wait around for a full moon and see for yourself, or spend more time on Google, you're welcome to it. If you want to send more messages to the Dark Chronicle website asking about them, and wait for no replies, you can do that, too.
Here. Someone at the LoK wikia gave me a capture of the Lightning Spell area.

I've no idea.

I can't ever remember seeing one of them before. I've searched for about an hour or two at this stage and can't find a thing out about them. I've even looked at the manual and don't see anything in there about them.

I think you are right tho, that is certainly a teleport pad underneath it. You can even see the little arrow on the sides and top and bottom. Most likely they are locking it somehow.

Sorry I can't be of any more help to you. are there any switches around? It must have something to do with the symbols.
