How fix? I don't want to keep playing because of these crashes, since you can't save based on checkpoints. Is there a way I can use save states or something to circumvent this crashing problem?
By crashes do you mean freezes?
If so, set processor affinity to one core.

Hi, I think I tried that, didn't work. Maybe it helps but it still happened at least once.

If it is crashing to desktop then I'm not familiar with the solution. Freezes however in 9/10 cases can be fixed with affinity setting. I'm pasting what I've written in the stickied thread:

make a bo2.bat file in the game folder with the following content:
start /affinity 1 /high bo2.exe
and modify the shortcuts to point to that file.

Then, try running that bat file and verify that the cores are set properly. It hapenned on some of my PCs that the game would have to start at one core - setting it after running would still result in freezes.

Sorry for late response, I did indeed do exactly this. In fact, I think I read here on the forum and saw your instructions. Now that I think about it, I believe I forgot to use run the batch file and instead double clicked the game icon. Whoops. Will try playing again. Either way, thank you very much even if it keeps freezing/crashing.

Go to the AMD or Nvidia control panel and limit the frame rate to a maximum of 60fps. it worked for me although it will still crash once in a while on windows 10.
Hello, can someone help me, my blood omen 2 crashes and I have to restart my pc, I don't know what to do :c

Force CPU affinity to one core for "bo2.exe" and ensure that no compatibility mode is enabled.

And... if you are on win10/11, I recommend to limit the frame rate to 60 FPS by using GPU control panel/3rd party SW or d3d8to9/dxwrapper.

I don't understand how Doom 1, Diablo 1 and Blood Omen 1 work perfectly fine. Easy purchase, download, launch, and play. These games are all ancient in comparison to Blood Omen 2 and Soul Reaver 2 but every time I go to launch either of the two, they won't launch at all. I have tried all the fixes from the forums, and nothing works.... Can GOG just release versions of these games that work on current gen computers????????

After doing everything that most people suggested and it didnt work. i downloaded this

www.guru3d.com/ files-get/rtss- rivatuner-statistics- server-download,16.html

once you intall it load BO2.exe into it. and set frame rate 144.

after that load it up mormally in gog or steam. no crashes at all. downside is you have to boot up rivertuner every time before you load the game. but thats the only issue
You can limit FPS in video driver. But both AMD and Nvidia provide limited functionallu\ity of it. Driver itself supports custom FPS.
So install 3rd party tool, indeed. For NV - NvidiaProfileInspector. Change global FPS limit settings to 119. Very rare games can be work wuthout issues on higher FPS. Many work on 59 or even 29. You can change it as well for specific games in same tool.

No need to such tool be runed vefore game. Its apply to driver, wich one initially support it (but lack of proper UI in control panel, that provide only few options).

Do not mess with refreshrate. Framerate and refreshrate is abosutely differ things. Refreshrate always better higher and equal to display supported hz on current resolution (each resolutions have differ hz supported for every displays).

Limit FPS - is first thing you should try to make any game work properly. And it is already mentioned in this thread.

Turn off Vsync\Gsync. Limit FPS by ProfileInspector insted.
