Hey there,

I've been scratching on all the paper, and got some characters reacting to the result of the scratching. But... I don't see any exit sign, all my mouse pointer does is look like a pencil and nothing else!

What do I do?

I have the same problem now :(
For anyone struggling with this, as I was when I clicked this thread hoping for an answer (SPOILER AHEAD):

What worked for me was to draw in the square with the word "Ruby" FIRST. That is, the square of October 20th. Once the vocal comment is prompted, draw in the second square with "T. Shackley" second (October 21st). That should prompt the second comment, letting you conclude this particular puzzle.

If you scratch both at the same time, or the October 21st square first, you'll only trigger the comment for Shackley, but I think the game needs both comments to be triggered in order to let you exit the screen.
