I love this game, played it a ton growing up. I noticed though that this version is missing the voice overs when you start a dialogue with an npc. For example when you talk to the innkeeper at lamut there would be an audio clip saying "honors to your houses"

Did this get dropped in a newer version? Can this be turned on?

I've tried researching this online to no avail. The game is still great but I find that I miss that little extra touch.

It can probably be turned on using BAK's original "install.exe" or "setup.exe" to change its sound settings, but I don't currently have the game on my system to work out the details. You can probably get them to run through DOSBox by changing the .conf file to point to them instead of to the Krondor exe file.
This is a known bug... you cannot use both MIDI audio and digital sound effects at the same time. Fortunately, there's a fan-made fix, detailed here:

Read the first post. You can follow the full instructions in order to get better-sounding music (I'm glad I did) or you can just skip to the part about the patch that enables MIDI and SFX at the same time.
