That's good to know, at least the workaround lets people get to the game proper.
The issue may be related to scaling and aspect ratio, as Thiev pointed out, so to have the videos enabled i'm guessing you'll have to look into those at your end.

Setting my desktops resolution to 1024x768 managed to get the game with movies running for me after suffering this issue. Hope this helps.
