It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I can only launch the game once before I have to reboot my computer in order to play the game again. Playing from the CD version does not require the reboot in order to play multiple times.

The game will get to the PyroTechnix splash screen before crashing to the desktop.

I am using a Lenovo T61 with a Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M.

I am running Win XP

I have tried this solution:

Have you completely terminated Chrome or any similar program that might be running in the background, as per the "does not start" solution?

Check the task manager after you've exited the game the first time and see whether RTK's processes are shutting down completely.

Are there any entries in the Windows event log at the time of the lockup that might be relevant?
I have no internet at home so Chrome-Firefox are not the problem. While I do have 4Gb of system memory. I do try to keep my System Tray - Background as clean as possible. I with the CD version the splash screens and FMV run full screen. Where as the GOG version of the game will run the splash screens and FMV at the game's native resolution against the laptop's native resolution of 1680X1050. I do notice that the third splash and maybe some of the FMV will have vertical green squiggly lines instead of what should be shown.
