I noticed that in Betrayal at Antara I I get a game crash like other folks..just before the part where it transitions to the book in the cut scene (after the flying thing.."persued by something out of a nightmare" part).

I noticed that I can run the full cinematic if I am on a fresh reboot of my machine. If I try to run it a second time it will crash....always in the same place.
I have tried running from two different user accounts on windows 7 64 ( one of the user account I use loads just the minimum..not a lot on it..i use it for testing)

I am using W 95 compatiblility. visual themes disabled.

I wonder if something clears out on a reboot and then clogs itself up on a second attempt to run the game. Registry???

Hope this helps with a solution although perhaps it is machine specific?

Hoep to see some comments.
thanks!

Still no luck wit this one. Not a big deal if the rest of the game works fine if just Esc. the cinematic get by the crash. More of a challenge for me to try to figure out a fix...but I am stumped. I even tried setting cpu affinity for the game in task manager but it is already set to 0 by default.
I've been beaten! Anyone ever figure this out? It is definetly right at the transition from "pursued by something out of a nightmare" into the chapter 1 book. Thought it could be sound drivers but did not see any options on setting sound or video options.

Please write to us about this issue and send in your DxDiag as well. Make sure you detail everything required to reproduce the error and hopefully this might be something that can be fixed rather quickly. Thanks :D

Okidoke...just sent a description and a dxdiag text. Would be great if it gets figured out!
I think it is solved.
I noticed that I had selective start up selected with msconfig so my computer was only loading certain processes. I have normal startup selected now and the movie is playing all the way through!

Spoke too soon......it's up to the same shinnatigans...crashing at the same place. Guess it is time to start going to selective start up and turning stuff off...see if theres a culprit in there causing havok!
