Fans of GoG.com on GoG.com's website? Will the wonders never cease?
Nevermind the fact that, as many others have pointed out, your statement is quite incorrect. Krondor is not, and never has been, freeware. The free-to-download/play version has not been available for well over a decade.
Sierra never gave permission for the free download to be redistributed freely, so unless you still have a copy of the game you (personally) downloaded in 1997, there is no 'free' version. Also pay attention to what others have pointed out - GoG.com's version is the CD version - larger, and more stable.
