So, it is clear that GOG has the unpatched version of Antara, and they have not fixed it yet.

My question is: can we patch the version they provide? I know the installer is 16-bit, but I can get around that. I'm just curious if their version is even compatible with the patch.

Sorry, I don't have an answer to this. I have downloaded the patch and tried to apply it, but it seems to be a no-go with the GOG version. Works fine on my old retail version.

I would just like to encourage GOG to get the patched version up. This game was the main reason I joined GOG, and it doesn't work. :-/
That's disappointing, then. I guess it's time to dig out my old copy of Antara and wrestle with the compatibility dragon.

If you own the game on cd, you can get an installer for modern systems from this site: http://www.squirtthecat.com/games/betrayal_in_antara/index.html.
It is very sad that they don't have the patched version up.

Please don't buy this until they patch it. They have been promising to do this for over a year. Please post on the forum (or better yet send them an email) requesting the patched version be uploaded.
Okay, this is something that's been bandied around in both the "Missing Temple" thread (Chapter 1) and the "Chapter 4 Conservatory" bug thread (sorry, did not copy the full titles to those topics here).

So, as I suspected, the official patch from Sierra is a Windows 3.x program. Does anyone have the ability to run the patch on the GOG version of the game (after backing up the game), then do a diff of the two directories to see what changed, pack up the set of changed files and post it somewhere for download? Once someone is able to patch the game, it ought to be a matter of simply copying the patched files into the proper game directories.
Those were my thoughts as well, PKodon. I actually tried to manually extract files from the patch executable and copy them into the game directory, but not even Universal Extractor can open it, and I lack the programming skills to do it myself. The game has hundreds of resource files; I bet only a few of them are corrupt and need to be replaced.

Another solution for the missing temple issue might be to use a hex/savegame editor to trigger the "blessed" flag for the characters, thus avoiding going into the temple.

Only problem, at least on my game, is from that point, any combat also crashed my game.
Maybe it was just me tho.
You guys know that this game IS patched? I just downloaded it to see for myself and the files ARE the same as in SquirtTheCat's installer (except the cd check is removed from exe). You can check it for yourselves if you know how to extract files from .msi file (hint: Total Commander + plugin for msi files).

The same as in they are of the same size, with the same "date created/modified" stamp? Mine are from 28/06/2008 and 17/06/1997. How come the temple in question is still missing, when others claim that the patch fixes the issue? Anyway, someone reported in another thread that GOG employees will address the issue very soon.

The same as in byte to byte same (Total Commander can compare files that way).
Mod posted in another thread that it was finally patched the same day you guys were talking about it here.

Edit: Oops, it was one day after. So the files may have been already patched, they just hadn't posted it yet.

The game was patched from the beginning. Problem was caused by different issue altogether.

Off the top of my head I believe the game's executable was looking for some of the content in the wrong location. At first we believed that our release had some content missing, but couldn't find any. It was part of why we weren't initially able to fix this.

Anyways, I'll ask Grah, our programming mastermind, about the specifics on Monday and will clarify in case my description above was gibberish. ;)
