Hey chaps

Error 99: error loading resource 7811.etc
D:\kernel\src\restype.cpp(99)
Script # 0 ($0+)

These spring up fairly often in different locations
With different 'resource' numbers.

-------------------------------

On a side note, if nobody can get things working
Can someone who has a savegame file for the start of chapter five
Perhaps send it? Better yet how about a savegame generator

I had this game in 97 and it didn't work AND IT STILL DONT WORK :(

What did I pay for ?

pretty sure you paid for the game.

as for an answer for your question, it seems there is/was a common problem with resource loading present in some of the disc versions as well as the gog version(because they don't have access to the source code, they can't fix bugs like this). there is a workaround if I remember correctly, more info here: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/krondor_series/bia_error

next time do a search or two and/or look at the next thread down that has almost the same topic title yours does.

So your suggestion is to pirate the game from a torrent and make disk ISO copies? Then why did he pay for the game?

If you have a better way around this problem, or any way at all, please let me know, Plus, by buying the game here you own it, and therefore it could be argued that you could legally download another copy from another site that does not have this problem. Also, please note that I did not post that fix.

From the date on several of the threads, the missing textures and resource issues have been around for awhile - It would be nice to have some input from GOG if they are going to fix (or refresh the digital copy), or if it can't be fixed.

from what I understand this was even a problem with some of the disc versions I believe, which may explain the problem with gog's version.
My question is: Why would GOG sell a game that has known, gamebreaking bugs that cannot be fixed?

dos4gw: My question is: Why would GOG sell a game that has known, gamebreaking bugs that cannot be fixed?
probably because even the games publisher is not aware of this. Also remember that gog is a company that sells many games, and therefore does not have the time to play through all of them completely, which means that some bugs will fall through the ceacks...

That may be correct but it would be in GOG favor if they put in such a disclaimer being people are spending money on a game they expect to work. If that is not indicated anywhere on this site that you buy games at your own risk and GOG cannot be held liable for any games that do not work then GOG is not off the hook and it would not look good for GOG reputation to put out incomplete conversions.

This is not a problem of gog putting out an incomplete anything, they ARE putting out the complete game, its the developers that never fixed the bug. Gog is selling the whole, complete game(not a conversion...) its a users job to research and understand the faults of a game before they buy it, not gog's, have you even read the terms of use, or anything similar on this site, it never says that gog can be held reliable for any problem with any game.

And please, in the future don't reply to a topic that is 3 months old unless you have something useful to say.
Hello,

I purchased the original CDs back in the day, and just joined GoG yesterday to get Antara and a couple other games. The version of Antara available from GoG is 1.0.0.1, and this problem and a few others were fixed in the 1.1.0 patch over a decade ago. I kind of assumed that I would be downloading the patched version... What are the odds that GoG will release the working one?

BTW, I googled the patch without too much trouble, but I am having difficulties applying it to the downloaded version. *Sigh* I guess i could search for and find the CDs, then install DOSbox and the patch. But I was kind of hoping that GoG would make all that a thing of the past.

EDIT: I just looked at another thread here: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/krondor_series/bia_error/page1

At the bottom a blue man says they are working on putting up the patched version asap. Guess we all just need to wait a bit longer.
