Dear GoG members,

I'm at the end of Chapter three and am in the Night Hawk hideout...I have the cellar key. For some reason though I cant get passed the door in the Northwestern part of the dungeon. Its really annoying. I'm guessing my lockpick skills aren't high enough. But A...I haven't found that many locks to pick, mostly just word chests...and B...I've been able to pick everylock till this point AND i've gotten training in lockpick from someplace past. James skill is the highest and its around fifty. I don't know. either I'm missing some sort of Key or my lock pick skill isn't high enough...

In ANY event, I need help. And don't really want to start the game over. Although I do have quite a bit of money and I GUESS I could use the temple service.

Thanks for your help!

Some doors there require skill 70+ or Noble's Passkey. But the main door (to the south) is opened by Cellar key and you shouldn't have a problem completing Chapter 3.
IIRC, If you click on the lock, it gives you an assessment of your chances of picking the lock on that door, IF it can be picked at all.

It also tells which generic key can be used to open it, if applicable.

Yes, if you've already opened that type of lock with a generic key, if I'm not mistaken.
Good thing you know if a lock requires a quest-specific key even if you've never encountered it before :-).

Don't you need to have it in inventory first, though?
Besides it's Jimmy the Hand. Your argument is invalid >:)

You probably indeed have to have the key.
Regarding Jimmy... in the OP's case, it's true, but you can see what quest-specific key you need even when you don't have him in the party (for instance, in Chapter 1 and 4, both of which feature a unique key).
Aaanyway, I think we should stop derailing the thread ;-).
