Antara will no longer start for me. I get a black screen and a repeating sound of the first second or so of the Sierra logo movie that repeats indefinitely.
I have compatibility for win 95 ticked, as well as "Disable visual themes", "Disable desktop composition", and " Disable display scaling on high DPI settings". When I try to start with any of these unticked, or with 256 colours or 640x480 options ticked, I get a "could not initialise direct 3d" error message.
The game worked fine for me with these settings a few weeks ago when I last played, except for a crash in the prologue/chapter intros which I could live with (thanks to youtube) and the occasional random crash after playing a long time.

I'm running windows 7. I have a thought that it could be a gfx driver issue, since I just updated it yesterday. dxdiag gives me the following:

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.130828-1532)
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570
Driver Version: 9.18.13.3523

I got it working. It runs fine now.

It occurred to me that I hadn't restarted my machine after updating my gfx drivers, so I thought I'd try that. As they say, the simplest solution is usually the correct one.
