As you all know, the game auto-saves when approaching combat. This has caused me to have a "Betrayal in Antara has stopped working. Windows is looking for a solution to the problem," box pop-up every time and it then causes me to crash. So I decided to try a normal save when nothing else was happening, and the exact same thing happened.

Does anyone have ANY advice on how to get this game to run proper with this save error? I am running Windows 8 x64 bit.

I have run as Administrator and have troubleshooted and config'd for Vista and XP, much to no avail. Any other suggestions?

Is this happening right from the beginning or only once you reach a certain stage of the game? There was a known crash/game corruption issue occurring in chapter 4, but that should be fixed in the current version of the installer.

Which version of Windows are you running? It could be 7 or 8 from your post.

I run Windows 8 - the game will crash at the start of any battle (basically any part of the game where an auto-save is initiated).

Theoretically running as Admin should fix this, but you could also try installing the game in a location OTHER than Progrma FIles. That folder has extra protections in Windows 7 and 8, which might cause problems when the game tries to write save files.

Have you only just started the game? Were you ever able to create save files?

Hopefully this isn't an issue specific to Win 8. I'm pretty sure people have been able to run the game on Win 7 with no problems.
