If anyone comes across this and needs it, here's what you have to do to solve the crashing and music problem, and to get Konung Legends of the North working on Windows 11 (at least this worked for me):
0) Fresh install
1) Download the fixed files from github referenced in Arkose's post
- lib0gg-0.dll
- libvorbis-0.dll
- libvorbisfile-3.dll
- winmm.dll
- winmm_readme
2) Extract the files and replace the existing files from the Konung folder
3) Go into your Konung install folder and open up the MUSIC folder
4) Track01.ogg will be missing
- I took Track02.ogg and made a copy of it, then renamed it Track01.ogg*
- You likely use any of the tracks as your copy, or even another song entirely
*when I opened one of the tracks in VLC, stupid windows 11 set that as the default application for .ogg files even though I said "no, don't always open this with VLC". If something like that happens, it will erase .ogg from the file name. The game won't even start in that case. To fix that, go back to the MUSIC folder. The tracks will just be called Track01, Track02, Track03, etc. Just edit each name to add the .ogg back: Track01.ogg and so on. The game will start and play and won't crash. At least it won't crash from this. I'm 16h into it and it crashed once, but you'll need to save this game OFTEN so not a big deal.
