Ok, I tried uploading a file of the game (can't be bothered with taking a screen shot since that won't tell you anything other than what the title says); couldn't find one that GOG would accept in 'saves' and all the folders in 'AppData'...so no file, no crash...file loaded...but no characters onscreen ... and no 'walking' aa far as I could make out. I could view their inventory, etc. (although my group of 6 had no 'effects').

I am enjoying this game immensely; however, I am getting somewhat tired at having to restart and squinting at the 6pt text.

What file would you need, where is it kept on a Windows system, and to whom should I send it?

Forgot to mention: file comes up as in the Green/Red cave after I defeated the Hags and leveled my characters. However, when I exited the game, I had left the area and gone to Inn (don't remember if I saved before exiting to desktop)

Received the following response from the developers:

Thank you for the bug report and the saved game! I've just fixed the problem for version 1.47, coming soon.

You can also recover your characters by opening and closing the Formation Screen two times.

Press Left Control + F to open the formation screen. Open it and close it two times and your characters should be back.

Happy to say, the solution works :)

Thank you so much grassBlade!

For reference, the saved games are located in these folders on Windows:

GOG version: C:/Program Files (x86)/GOG Galaxy/Games/Knights of the Chalice 2/Saves

Steam version: C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Knights of the Chalice 2/Saves

Each numbered folder is a saved game. Folder zero is the Quicksave.

I've just uploaded KotC 2 version 1.49 for both GOG and Steam.

Cheers! Best regards :-)
