This looks interesting, but what is the game like and what other games does it compare to, or play like.
Also, if you bought it from GOG and have a newer system is it stable and does it display correctly?
Thanks

The game is comparable to the older Settlers, really. It's a fun and semi-realistic game in that you can't just build a barracks and train troops there. You have to build a pig farm, and then make leather and sausages out of the pigs. Then you tan the leather to make leather armor.
You also need an iron mine, and you have to smelt the iron and then craft it into a spear or a sowrd, and then when you have all that down, you can create a troop. And it becomes more complex as you get more complex units. The game has a very slow tempo, but it's incredibly fun to look at your bustling town go about doing their jobs.

Agree!
This is very first game on my first PC! :) I have played it for HOURS! It just sucks you in... And as was said: its pretty cool to watch your citizens how they produce stuff... Like butcher making sausages :D
Sounds a lot like the Settlers or Cultures series of games.
Cultures was even more in depth than Settlers, and claimed 200 hours of game play. That is likely true but what they failed to say was that much of the 200 hours will be spent waiting for things to get accomplished.
Of course I have the entire Cultures series so I do not mind the wait! :o)
Can you tell me if it is working on your machine and what kind of graphics card you own?
I'm running on a NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT and the game works just fine (I'm playing the GOG version since I've lost my real KnM CD years ago). And yeah, it does take quite some time for "something" to happen (something being the fighting) You do get attacked in waves every now and then, but it can take a few hours for the final battle to commence. Then it's all about trying to find the best strategy to beat your opponent (unit placements, stuff like trying to lure the enemy troops away from their archers' range and into your range so that you don't get shot, but they do) and all that fun.
You'll be beating large amounts of troops with a small army spartan style once you get the hang of the game.
Thanks guys. I wanted to give each the solution points, but I am very interested in knowing if it would run on my system.
Thanks to each of you for your answers.
Just to add... I'm on a vacation right now with my old laptop (Celeron @ 1.13 GHz, 512 MB RAM, very poor internal GFX with max 48MB shared memory), the game runs perfect on 800x600.
And by the way, yeah, it takes _a lot_ of time to get something done in it, but that's a part of gameplay. Knights and Merchants are simply wonderful :)
Seeing Knights and Merchants here on GOG put me in a Settlers-spree mode two weeks ago, I bought both Knights and Merchants here, Settlers 2 and Settlers 6 from strangers and still couldn't beat all three of them. :)
Hello guys,
I just bought this game. The problem is that the game is very blurry.
What should I do and what is wrong? (note: PC is quite old)
