I seem to be having a lot of problems trying to use my Xbox 360 gamepad with any of these DOSbox games. King's Quest games will ask me to center my joystick in the beginning, but then after that it just doesn't see to work. By moving the control stick sort of towards the upper left the character will move the opposite direction a little bit. Pressing one of the shoulder buttons seems to count as the swim command. The A button works like enter. Other then that nothing works. Is there any way to use my gamepad for these DOSbox games? Thanks.

Why do you need the joystick anyway? The first four games require you to type, and traverse terrain that is easier to traverse with the arrow keys. KQ5 and 6 I could understand, but there's still some tricky terrain. I suggest that you just use the keyboard. (Sheesh, console gamers need controllers for EVERYTHING)
