How come, sometimes when you blow the horn in Ooga Booga, you hear "Who dares disturb my sleep?" and get killed? What determines whether that will happen or whether what's supposed to happen will happen?

Once you are on the screen with the pile of bones, look at the tree. If the branch is up, you are garunteed to die no matter where you stand on the streen, so leave the screen and come back until the branch is down. Stand in the bottom left side of the screen to blow the horn.

Indeed. The kids sing a nursery rhyme that gives you this hint if you go to their screen while they're tossing the rat around (I think it's a rat.)

Yes.... there's several times King's Quest VII applies the "random chance of death" factor... just like when you have to sneak in the tower and the dog's barking...
