Okay, so on WinXP, I got the game running with "3dfx" set @ 800x600, but the intro is cut off less than a second in. Is this a video codec issue, like my drivers are too new or something? Also, the framerate is laughable, fluctuating between 0.5-15 depending on my surroundings when I move the camera. Is this normal, or has someone made a fix for it? Machine is core 2 duo with a GeForce 610 card.

Alternatively, I have a couple of Win98SE rigs with more than decent enough specs for the original release of the game, but I noticed the game is only listed to support XP Vista and 7. does the installer not run on Win98SE?

I tried running that newish installer on win98se on physical hardware with win98se. Although it does install the game, the launcher needs .net framework 4.0, which can't be installed on win98se. Of course, I found that out AFTER installing .net framework 2.0, which needed windows installer 2.0 and internet explorer 5.0.1..

I'm still stuck in win98se and get a black screen after the load daventry screen.
