just doesn't load from gog galaxy.

king quest 8 is impossible to play
it crashes at the creation of a new part with my screen 1440p


i start a new game and then closes the window automatically

but i have i7 4790k 32 giga ddr3, SSD and 1080ti windows 10

not possible in 1440p apparently

i dont understand

yeah it doesn't even boot when I run it on my desktop which is an i5 with a geforce 950 or something like that. So this game has major compatibility problems.

I recently upgraded to a new device and am now on a Asus ROG Strix laptop running latest Win10 Pro build. No matter what I've done (following the troubleshooting guide), at best I get a brief flicker of the splash startup graphic, then the program instantly shuts down. :( Would love to play this game...

This game will likely just need to be run in compatibility mode. I just purchased it, 1 because I love it and 2 because I don't mind figuring it out.

May I ask if anyone has hit upon a Windows 10 compatibility solution? For me the game opens and you can select 'New' and set the difficulty, but then about 20% of the way through the following 'Copying files to hard drive' step it crashes to desktop. So far I haven't found a previous-Windows compatibility mode that alters this behavior in any way. I previously was able to play it on a Windows 7 system.

Update: The solution to my problem as described was to download and run the kqmoepfd script as described by nicode in kings_quest_series/kings_quest_8_crashes_on_launch/post4 on this forum.

I gather this circumvents the issue by pre-copying all the files to the hard drive, as the loading screen in question did not appear when I started a new game.

Now I find that, while the music is playing, none of the voices or sound effects are, but that is a separate issue.
