FYI my experience in 2020 running KQIV on mac OSX

step zero - this was on OSX 10.13 High Sierra, newer OSX sometimes break things so YMMV

step one - buy KQ IV from GOG

step two - download the big installer exe, setup_kings_quest_4_-_the_perils_of_rosella_1.0_(20239).exe not the GoG thing

step three - download and installl XQuartz

step four - download and install Wine

step five - from the wine command line, cd ~/Downloads, then run wine setup_kings_quest_<tab><enter>

step five and a half - make it install to c: (which is actually ~/.wine/drive_c)

step six - it will ask to install .NET and other stuff, say yes.

step seven - open the kq_ref_Card.pdf in Preview from the ~/.wine/GOG../KINGS/ folder

step eight - install DOSBOX

step nine - run DOSBOX, mount c ~/.wine/drive_c

step ten - in dosbox type c: <enter> cd gog<tab> <enter> cd KIN<tab><enter>

step eleven - type sierra.com<enter>

step twelve - look up the secret password in your ref card PDF, type it in

step thirteen - press alt-enter to switch to fullscreen
