Heroine's Quest is a retro adventure made with Adventure Game Studio like so many others. It has novel role playing aspects, real time combat that reminds of Punch-Out!! and sandbox elements like hunger and cold that affect your character. It's fully voiced and well polished!

Oh yeah, it's FREE.

They only have a Windows release at the moment but they're working on Linux and Mac and are considering mobile versions.

Edit: I see now that it has been mentioned in the General and Quest for Glory forums but hey, everyone should see it.

I noticed it was added to Steam as well.

Will it be on GOG in the future?

They definitely should add it as one of the great freebies that match their style :)
Very good game. If you like "Quest For Glory," you should give this game and "Quest For Infamy" a shot; also check out AGD Interactive's remake of QFG2 if you haven't done so already.

It's not necessarily for all "King's Quest" fans though, because it's not a true adventure game. It's an adventure game mixed with RPG elements (you have to fight in battles, build up your stats, sleep, eat, etc.), so if you don't like RPG games this probably won't be your favorite.

It does have a few "King's Quest" references though. At one point in the game you can lie and tell a certain character that you did what Graham did in "King's Quest 1."
