Just in case people wanted to play the older King's Quest games, but were scared of the graphics, help is at hand!
Over here at AGD Interactive, they remade King's Quest I and KQII, to the same standard as KQ5.
Infamous Adventures on the other hand, complete the trilogy with King's Quest III.
If anyone is looking for music from the games, this is available over at Quest Studios.
Enjoy!
For anyone who doesn't like the adlib sound in KQ4 there is an unofficial version of scummVM over at Pix's ScummVM Hacks which attempts to add the MT-32 sound back in. This uses recordings from an MT-32 to replace the adlib audio and in KQ4 for instance turns into [url=http://www.pix.oneuk.com/after.mp3]this.
The snag is that scummVM SCI support is still a work in progress and I can't attempt to finish my audio patch until that is done. As such it hasn't been playtested for SCI games yet. It's should still work reasonably well if anyone wants to give it a go. All the SCI0 games are on there.
I've also done a KQ5 soundtrack. This is more there as a test for SCI1 audio but it's not working too badly in recent builds from the little of the game that I've tested it with.

You can use Munt (which is all that ScummVM uses) to use it with DOSBox. Unfortunately, it will not install on 64-bit Windows. If you are fortunate enough to have a real MT-32, DOSBox works great with it, to.
Nothing beats a real MT-32 and they aren't that expensive either. They are a must have for oldschool gamers if you ask me.
I've never been impressed by any recordings I've heard of MUNT. You also need MT-32 roms so it's illegal unless you own an MT-32 which kind of defeats the purpose (unless the real thing breaks down I guess). I've not tried it in ages, hopefully it sounds just like the real thing these days.
My patch is really aimed at running scummVM on my PSP where I don't have another option. I definitely can't cope with adlib and hacking together a sound patch for a game is fairly quick and easy.
I still have my MT-32 that I bought when it 1st came out so many years ago. Still works great today. I decided to try the MT-32 emulation through ScummVM and I must say it's very accurate! I was quite blown away with how good a job it did with most SCI Sierra games. It's still a little buggy in some areas, but overall it does a great job :)
