Check out Paw's King's Quest 3 Retrospective at ThatGuyWithTheGlasses!
This game for me was the most engaging due to the fact that you must play with your "spellbook" in hand. I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one in the world thinking this was the most difficult adventure game ever. I'm enjoying these series so far.

Sometimes he is holding a big book and Paw talks about it being the novelization of the games.
I didn't know there was novelization of the games....Is there?

I'm about a week off from when you posted this but I figured I'd answer your question. The novelization he's speaking of is a book called "The King's Quest Companion". I've been thinking about picking it up for a long time. It's basically from what I understand a guidebook for 1-7 but written in novel form that apparently fleshes out certain things from the earlier games that were left kind of vague. It sounds super neat. I want to get the 4th edition cause that is the latest one but it's tough to find on ebay and some of the prices for it on Amazon are asinine. :P

I'm really liking Paw's restrospective series. Really looking forward to seeing him cover 5 and 6 cause those are my favorites. :D

Never hurts to check your local library!
Nice video retrospective. I totally get what he's saying about these games having a huge replayability factor. I have played through the entire KQ series numerous times over the years and it never gets dull.

And about that owl (Cedric)... As much as I love KQ5, I hated him. That annoying voice still gets on my nerves to this day.

But who else would warn you about poisonous snakes??
While Cedric can be obnoxious, there's something I always found hilarious about him (probably his captain obvious states and especially the poooisonous snake). I actually started a now 4ish year friendship by first telling said friend that the game they dreamt about but couldn't remember was Phantasmagoria 2, and then we bonded over KQ5 and Cedric's silliness. :P
Was the snake even poisonous though? I mean, I assume it was venomous, but if Graham ate it would he die. (Being King's Quest the answer is, of course, yes he would die).
Paw just released the KQ5 retrospect and it's just as good as I was hoping it would be. I love that game so much, even if it is a big ball of ham as far as some of the voice acting goes, I think it adds to the charm. :P
Thanks for the link, these are pretty cool to watch!
