Is Cedric's main purpose comic relief? He certainly doesn't help you as much as he should.
Sort of. He might be considered comic relief if he was funny.

In all KQ games up until 5, and only 5, the main character didn't have any travelling companions, making the atmosphere seem very dark and lonely. I think Cedric was included mainly to make the idea of going on a long journey seem less perilous and scary.
Not to mention, Cedric does save your life in the end, even if by accident. cbingham you sure like to post random weird stuff. Maybe you could make one thread with a bunch of things you thought odd about the kq games, rather than a bunch of different threads

I already tried that in the Phantasmagoria forum. I made one thread about all the things that confused me in the 2nd game of that series (there were a lot of things). The thread didn't even get one response.
Cedric may also be....

If you say to much, then people think you just didn't get the game and don't want to bother explaining it all to you. But posting a bunch of posts can start to get irritating too. Try to come up with a manageable list of the big things that bothered you about the KQ games & people will probably comment. Some posts, even in here, people haven't commented on. Keep in mind, these were GAMES from the 80's and weren't the most logical & you need to be forgiving. Don't nit-pick every little thing

Funny how you take issue with nit-picking, when that's exactly what you're doing here. :)

It's not hurting anything if someone posts threads about topics they find interesting. You never know which topic will take off and garner further discussion. Keeping all topics you deem as miscellany in one giant thread would just makes them cumbersome to browse through. Let's just leave well enough alone.
Do whatever you want, but back in the early 80's & 90's, there wasn't a lot of logical story telling. Mostly just puzzle solving with a weak story wrapped around it. This was true with most games, and Sierra wasn't the only ones that was plagued with story telling taking a back seat. Take 7th Guest for example. You wander around a mansion solving puzzles, and watch a really weird story play out that many people complained about because it just made no sense. But it sold very well & was considered one of the big breakthroughs for FMV gaming for the time. So you're going to find A LOT of things that don't make sense. If you're going to post a separate thread for every single one that occurs to you, then it just needlessly fluds the forums. And while you're going to get comments now. Eventually people are going to get sick of it & just find it annoying. Trust me, I've seen it happen many times before. I highly recommend adding a few (maybe up to 5 or more) to each post. If you want to see how others have been treated that did the same thing you're doing, go visit the MAME discussion. They eventually were hated for all the posts. At first it was interesting, but then people felt like they liked to post just to bitch about stuff, and literally everyone ended up hating them for it
