I only installed KB today & I'm doing the opening "test" combats. I can't help but feel like troops move kinda slow, in terms of animation. I'm running at 2.8Ghz with 6Gb of ram and 256mb dedicated video memory.

Any way to speed things up a bit?

And while I'm here, is there any way to switch to windowed mode?
Although my laptop's specs are somewhere in the middle of yours, I managed to speed up the game by disabling the AA. Taking your specs into consideration AA should not be a problem, but you can always give it a try.

As for running the game windowed - take a look at the game.ini file, you'll find this:

setf ~windowed 0

Change 0 to 1 and it should work in windowed mode.

That works, thanks!

Seems like it should have worked, but it didn't. :-(

When you start the game windowed and the black window appears, click on it.

Doesn't seem to do anything whether I click or double-click.

This happened to me too, and I wrote the exact solution here. Hope this helps. The tricky part is that it depends how the directory of the game is set, whether is set to "Read only" or not.
