The Problem:
Frequent stalled crashes with full screen red visual artefacts that look like 'wwwwwwww'.
Occurs with an inability to control my own system including tabbing and openning task manager, but not in particular mouse movement, though mouse cannot select buttonized activators.
Sound becomes choppy signalling the stalling effect on the game & co-inciding with random minute mouse movement access.
This stalling behaviour usually occurs about a minute into campaign map play though tends to be random

The System:
Nvidia motherboard (evga 780i i think)
Intel CPU Q6600
Nvidia GPU 9800GTX - Driver Current as of 3rd October
8GBRam
Samsung Terabyte HDD
Direct X 9c as installed by other games
Monitor currently Dell 24" 1920x1200
Razer Lycosa & Mamba with configuration utility
All settings except for screen size set to absolute minimum if not turned off.

Are there any suggested fixes for this issue?

I had almost that exact setup, but a 8800GTS. I was running Vista 64 and it worked fine (and still does on my GTX480). Others in this forum have had problems with nVidia cards, one suggestion was to try the new beta version of their drivers as that has worked for some people.

What OS are you running?

You could check your nvidia control panel and make sure all settings for the game are set to application controlled and not forced on. Not sure its the problem but can't hurt to look.
