When I try to run the game I get kb.exe - Unable to locate component. This application has failed to start because d3dx9_33dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.


I have tried reinstalling several times with no success. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I am running XP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update your direct X

More precisely download and install either:

DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer

DirectX end-user redistributable

Difference is that web installer downloads the components needed and redistributable contains everything and can be used to install, say, computers without internet connection. Do not install Bing toolbar that may come bundled with them (at least the redistributable version).

The gist of it... is this fail happens because you have a old version of DirectX. A simple update of your directX no matter how you do it. Will fix this problem.
