More like Life of Frustration. How this game gets positive reviews blows my mind. Imagine Quake on Nightmare difficulty with some curse words thrown in frequently. Now, give the game a weaker plot and strip out any minuscule amount of fun Quake actually has. That's Kingpin. I spent a few hours with this over the course of the last couple days, so if this comes off as a meaningless rant, it's not. I really tried to like this game somehow, but just couldn't.
How in the world did Xatrix Entertainment go from Redneck Rampage, one of my beloved classic shooters, to THIS? I'm sure the graphics were great for the time, and interacting with NPCs with a "positive" or "negative" response was new at the time, but this entire game just screams dull. Best of luck trying to kill one person in this game without dying or, if you're incredibly lucky, having a scrap of health left.
You start out beaten to a pulp with a measly small lead pipe, but acquire a pistol early on. I even found enough money to upgrade it, and I STILL couldn't kill another person with a gun without dying. It's like an average joe taking on a few fully armed navy seals in a dark alley. I've literally shot people a dozen times while they still ran around randomly and killed me in three or four shots from any distance. Ridiculous.
This is one of the worst shooters I've ever played. Please save your money and go buy the entire Redneck Rampage Collection that is available this Tuesday here at GoG! Anything is better than this, folks. Go play Half-Life, Doom, Quake, Blood, Dark Forces, Rise of the Triad, Heretic/Hexen, Duke Nukem 3D, even SiN is better than this. Do you already have one or more of those? Go play them again, and save your money.
No wonder Xatrix ceased to exist when this shipped. I'd want to go into hiding too if I was in the credits of this abortion. As much as I love Redneck Rampage, they really dropped the ball here. Utterly terrible. You've been warned.
