I'm new to this game, obviously. Every game I have ever played, not really a lot, allows the player to skip the intro to the game after the you dial up a new game. After that you can directly to the menu and load the saved game. This game forces you to plow through the long boring intro every time you access it. If there is a way around that I haven't found it. Is there a way?

Don't know what 'long boring' intro you're referring to.
I just opened mine, there's no video. There's a loading screen, a couple splash screens and then you're at the main game screen to choose options/saves etc. Game takes a long time to load, you probably have it on a regular hard drive.

Just hit escape. That replaces the "king charles" manuscript-artwork intro with some artwork splash screens while the game engine loads (which, yes, is a heavy process taking quite some time). As soon as that's completed, it'll show the main menu (with the intro movie, you'd be able to hit "E" at that point for the same).
