I can't access Hans' chest in the "Clothes make the man" quest and Hans is sleeping all the time in his bed. Is there any known workaround for this?

I'm curious about this as well, as I have a similar issue... I had just finished the quest with Hans prior to "Clothes make the man" but since updating to 1.4.1, suddenly I am unable to speak to Hans at all... I've tried waiting and finding him at the tavern in the northeast of the city, but still no option to speak to him in order to start this quest. I tried loading a few earlier saves but in all the ones I tried, I have no option to speak to him at all.

I really don't want to have to start over...
