I just managed to retrieve a silver dragon statue from the dragonewt temple and was eventually told by my clan ring member that they had no idea what it does but that it was powerful and I shouldn't trade it. I can't use it in combat and I'm not seeing any sudden changes in my tribe (other than pissing a lot of people off but i'm sure that has more to do with raiding them than the statue.)

I was wondering if anyone knew what effects this statue has as well as any other items like this that won't tell you what they do. I tried looking for information on it but all I got for my trouble was a bunch of lists of treasures that all said the same thing about it being mysterious.

I know this game is supposed to be about roleplaying as a clan in that world but I'm more of a practically minded strategy gamer so it bothers me when I can't place an actual value on something. I'll probably keep it regardless of what it does (unless my clan gets desperate for supplies at some point) but I REALLY prefer to know these things.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide and for taking the time to read this thread.

=D
I have no clue what it does.
Have you noticed an increase in clan magic perhaps?
Or maybe it gives some sort of bonus if your clan had sided with the dragons way back in ancient times.

Not really, no. I suppose it's possible that its benefits could be related to siding with the dragons since it is a dragon statue but my clan fought them so I wouldn't see a benefit from it if that were the case.

I can't say I've kept exact number from before and after I got the statue so if its benefits were small I probably wouldn't have noticed them. I'm quite a bit further into the game now and doing pretty well so I couldn't really say what part of my successes have been related to the statue if any at all. I did a TON of raiding on the two clans I have feuds with at the start as well as several retaliatory raids against others and I would attribute most of my success to the gains from those.

It's interesting that there doesn't seem to be any information on this since it has been my experience that given enough time someone will figure out pretty much everything there is to know about a game. Particularly when it comes to strategy games like this one.

Thanks anyway. Hopefully someone out there has the answers and will eventually choose to provide them.
Well, ddunham (here on thje forum) would know. All he needs to do is decide to shed light on this.

But if it is something that just makes hero quests a bit more likely to succeed or gives an overal +X% chance of beneficial outcomes whatever you do, then I doubt people could figure it out without seeing the code.

If it were directly useful in combat, you would get to choose it.

Actually, it looks like the original idea was that this was a totally non-magical treasure. Then we added the news about having no idea what it did. At the time, we may well have had no idea what it did, because it took 6 months to actually have it do something.

I don’t like to spoil game play, but as always, give strong consideration to your advisors. The statue is helpful in a specific but rare situation.

I see. So it's entirely possible i'll never have a use for it. Oh well, it's still a trophy from my raid into dragonewt territory which considering my clan really hates dragons it's worth keeping on that basis alone.

As for items directly useful in combat, I've already seen that at work. Sadly, my magic grey net tore in one of my battles but it did manage to snag me almost 40 prisoners in the process so I can live with that outcome. Funny how apparently no one in my clan knows how to repair a net though...

Other than the fact that probably none of them have seen the ocean, presumably once the magic is torn it would be just a net.

Yeah I figured as much, I just found it amusing. Especially when you consider that we're supposedly hurling fireballs and lightning bolts regularly on the battlefield it doesn't seem like an entirely unreasonable idea that someone could renew an enchantment on a net.

It's not a big deal though. I've already made a ton of goods from ransoming back captives even without the help of the net. At this point i'm not sure that ransom will continue to do me any good since I've already built all of the defenses as well as a grand temple to my primary god and several shrines to other gods. I've just been sending out bribes in an attempt to make the locals love me at this point.

Feuds are so very profitable.

So is it helpful in an "improves chances but can still succeed without it" way or in a "locked out of certain event/option/outcome without it" way? This is very important for me to know since I roleplay as a clan that's friendly to the dragonewts and I don't want to steal anything from my buddies unless I have very good reason to, but I also don't want to miss anything special I'd need the statue to access.
There are certainly responses to some situations that need a specific treasure, but I don’t think the Silver Dragon is one. I don’t think there are any events that require a specific treasure (other than a couple that are pretty obvious, and which show the treasure in question).
