This has been on my wishlist for a while, and I'm looking at that sale price and hovering over the "Buy" button. However, I'd like to hear from those who have both played the game and read the novel (as I intend to do). Does knowledge of the novel affect the play experience at all, either positively or negatively? What order would you recommend I take them in?

Thanks for looking.
Hi SpiderFighter, I'm a dev so I have a slightly different perspective but hopefully still useful. I think either option is fine, if you are the sort of player, who likes to discover stuff for themselves, you might like to avoid 'spoilers' but my instinct is that most players would get a lot from reading the book first. There is certainly no requirement to do so but it is a fantastic book and not too long so I'd recommend reading it anyway and it provides an interesting context when playing the game. Have fun with whatever you decide!

Thanks for the reply! It's terrific to hear the thoughts from a developer and how you approached this unique project.

I think I'm going to play the game first, and then read the book so that I can work through the adventure spoiler-free. Cheers!

Then play it again, here in the intended way of the devs. It can be a nice way to longer enjoy the game.

Is there enough branching to hold up in back-to-back plays? Also (and I'm not being argumentative; I'd just like more info), where did you read that's the way the devs intended?

If there's enough material, I think it'd be interesting to play again though, just to catch all the references to the book. Cheers!

What the dev just said:
" There is certainly no requirement to do so but I'd recommend reading the book anyway and it provides an interesting context when playing the game. "

Ah, thanks. I misunderstood what you were saying.
