This was a great statics & dynamics lesson for rocketry. You may want to study up. I know I did! My rockets kept flipping while trying to get to a specific place on Kerbin.

Useful to me. I tend to add fins on the top of my rockets aswell, and get all surprised if they don't help stabilizing the liftoff. I should stop taking my cues from submarines or front-wheel-drives.
Yeah, the fact that a top-heavy rocket won't flip as often is logical when you think about it, but it was certainly not intuitive ^^
