For those who are unware and would like to live a little more dangerously. This game does include experimental unreleased patches that you can enable via Galaxy. Go to game page -> MORE -> Settings -> Beta Channels and enable the experiment patch.

This is one of the few games I've seen use this new feature in Galaxy.
Anyway to get the latest patches for non-Galaxy users? Either through GOG or Lo-Fi directly?

Well the latest patch is offered through standalone installer like all GOG games, this here is an unstable, non public release patch for testing purposes. This as far as I know is only obtainable in Galaxy.
Ya, the version in our Library is only 93.5. But they are already up to 93.12. And you really need at least 93.7 so you can see fertility values when you prospect to know where to build. A big reason I use GOG is not to have to install downloaders and other software. Is there any way they can make it available for us to download via Library or directly?

I doubt it.

The benefit of Galaxy is devs (at-least for in-dev games, and soon enough all devs) can release patches directly to you without going through GOG. This is a feature of Galaxy and honestly this would be counter productive to try to use the site for. As you can see experimental patches like this can be released every day or two making it impossible for GOG to stay on top of.

So you either have to use Galaxy or wait until the next public build. The only other place to get it as far as I am aware is Steam. Sorry but if you want features like this you have to use Galaxy, and there really isn't any reason not to.

If I wanted to install some 3rd party gaming platform on my PC and turn it into a pseudo-console, then yes, I would just use Steam instead of GOG. But many of us are here precisely because we aren't interested in 3rd party installs.

It is a reasonable feature request to include experiment builds in the Library through a similar opt-in feature where you can access the builds and take responsibility for their installation.

I contacted support to see if they could provide a direct link to whatever experimental builds are being offered on Galaxy and they denied, twice, that there are any on Galaxy. Which versions are you seeing there?

Which is your choice.

No it's not. The site is not designed to handle this. Experimental unreleased builds can be released multiple times in one day or every other day. GOG manually test patches and has to manually upload patches to the site, so it's not feasible to manually do this... hence why the built Galaxy. If you refuse to use it then you also choose to miss out on those features.

Then you got someone who doesn't know what there talking about, nor do I believe they would provide a direct link. I'm currently on the latest experimental build 0.93.13

Actually if you want proof, check out mantis because I filed a small bug report as there is a issue with the text on experimental patches for this game.

Anything that can be downloaded by a downloader, can be downloaded by a browser. There's no reason they would have to create an installer for the browser if they don't create one for the downloader. Just give us access to the same files.

Actually it should be much easier to code the functionality for a webpage than in a client.

While this is true, the issue is not providing the file. It's automating the process, Galaxy is built to be automated so no input from GOG is needed when these files are uploaded. GOG would have to manually to do this on the site, there is no built in automation (and one could argue is better to do this with Galaxy because games directly integrated with it) as well as provide them daily on a separate branch. When you get a lot of games that are updated nearly everyday with experiment patches (which is bound to happen in the future), it is not feasible. GOG can barley provide official patches now is a timely manner, we would never get patches if they also had to provide unreleased unofficial ones.

To keep up with beta patches on the site would probably require a bit of work on their end, either that or beta patches would be added weeks later and would not be bleeding edge.

Meanwhile in Factorio: http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd366/PabloC7/Fact_zpso6vf4wsd.png And the experimantal version is being updated quite often. Is it really THAT hard? :P

Just saying - I'm not going to complain about any in-dev game. It's bound to cause problems and I'm perfectly fine with waiting for fixes. It's only a little annoying when said fix is already available, but requires the client.

No it's not hard per say to add them to the site when it only 1 or 2 games, it when it becomes many games that it becomes a problem. Just remember someone has to manually do this, as well as package the installer.

I wonder is Factorio using the Galaxy beta channels right now though? I don't own the game so I can't check. Maybe GOG is hosting the beta patches on the site for them for the time being because there not using it yet. Which GOG has done from time to time for certain games.

But I've not seen any games using the Galaxy beta channel also have a version of the patch on the site... so that's interesting for sure if it does.

An new experimental Patch with dx11 support rolled in yesterday on Steam:

Lets see when it arrives here.
Does this still work? I cannot find the Settings under More. 1.0.9 is not released officially yet.

Never mind, found it, thanks for the hint :)
