Has anyone here played co-op without a headset (or standalone mic)? If so, did you find it doable or was it a major hindrance?

I'm thinking even if the game doesn't have built-in text chat, it does support the overlay. So if need be, co-op partners could chat via GOG Galaxy. But on the other hand, I don't know how frequently you need to communicate. Having to pop up that window often could get annoying quickly.
