Dear GOG,

I am thankful to you for releasing such classics; it was my dream to have these games again. As you have released DOSBox version of the original game for Linux and Mac, can you please release the sequel for Linux and Mac please? I am totally fine with Wine releases for such old titles. Thank you!

Regards.
The last time I tried (some years ago) I had huge problems getting TSF to run on wine – Vanilla Jazz 2 ran without any problems.
Oh please yes. That would be awesome.
Yeah, JJ2 had fullscreen issues with WINE 5 years ago, I haven't tried it with modern versions of WINE. That said, devs can have self contained version of WINE that addresses specific issues that previous versions didn't. That's the reason of official WINE ports existence.

There was an official Mac port of Jazz 2 many years ago, but it won't work on modern Mac architecture.

Apparently, it's not too hard to set it up in Wine nowadays.

Hi rea987,

It looks like the game runs flawlessly on Linux with Wine. Our users report that as well. So go for it, if you're a fan!

The problem with Wine wrappers is that they take a huge chunk of our QA & fixing time since we need to be sure they are playable & don't introduce bugs at any point in-game.

On Linux, they offer a less-than-perfect user experience, since user needs to install loads of 32 bit dependencies and there's no going around that. And more often than not, they meet, sadly, with poor reception, aka "meh, I could easily just run it with Wine myself".

So feel free to show us your demand for such wrapper, however I can make no promises if we'll be able to supply it, especially since this game is extremely easy to set up using Wine or Wineskin.

Thanks for the answer, ma'am / sir! There are different ways to provide Linux builds. For example SNK's Metal Slug series on GOG provides Linux builds as extra goodies so in case of quality issues they won't have to support those builds. Of course that is not an ideal sort of action but considering that the users need to find ideal WINE versions and libraries for themselves, even an unofficial WINE port would be great. Don't you think?

Adding my voice for a Mac version of JJ2. The first game looks okay, but the second is the one I want, and the one I DID play on Mac many years ago. Would love to be able to again.
I haven't tried with jazz jackrabbit games yet, but for most dos games I just load them into boxer (http://boxerapp.com/) and they tend to run flawlessly, little to no configuring, except a very few.
Long time Linux user and Linux gamer here. A pre-wrapped Linux version of Jazz2 shouldn't be too hard, since the game runs fine in Wine. But I think that that's not something GOG should provide, at least not without proper testing.
I have played Jazz2 on Linux for years using Wine, and the last 5 years it have been running flawlessly.

If you want an easy way to install Jazz2 on Linux, use Lutris. Search for "Jazz Jackrabbit 2" on lutris.net. All you need is the installer EXE. GOG integration is a WIP for Lutris, so right now you have to download the install EXE manually.

I would love to see a mac release for JJ2 too!
seeing as DOSBox has native linux binaries, I'm not sure why wine would be necessary...

The difference is: JJ2 is an actual Windows binary. It wouldn't run in DOSBox anyway. Only the original Jazz Jackrabbit (without the '2') is a DOS binary and will run in DOSBox.
+1 to mac release =p
Just a thought but since there is now, self contained containers ie snaps can that not be used to make life easier? and less troubling for the devs?
