I would like to install to copies of JA2, because i want to start another game where i edit the ini and xml files differently than the game i'm playing now, but i still want to play that game too.

Any way to do this?
I'm guessing the best way to do this would be to download the game's offline installer. You can do this on the webpage by going to your games and selecting "download offline backup game installers", or in galaxy by selecting your games, clicking on 'backups and goodies' and downloading the installer from there.

Once downloaded, you will have an exe file that you can use to install the game to a separate location on your computer. I'm not sure exactly where the xml and ini files are located that you want to edit, but if they are in the location you install to, you should be able to modify them all you want.

I'm not sure if you can add the second installed game to launch from Galaxy or not, but you can certainly add a shortcut to your desktop to the modified game.

Hope this helps!

You can have infinite copies of JA2 on a single computer,
or use copiers of the related folders inside a single install (because sharing of core game files saves space)

The games must be installed in a neutral folder, i.e. not \program files x86, \desktop, etc,
else the buggy behaviour of windows [puts files into personal account folders instead of where the program expects them) will cause havoc.

1. copy the whole install to another dir, and create shortcut to ja2.exe in tthat folder
(or whatever you use to start the game, like e.g. iniEditor)

2. optionally copy and paste only the relevant folder
(e.g. data-1.13 if you want to have a 2nd 1.13 game with different options)
and paste it with a different name into JA2 root folder.
Now either use the iniEditor to point to desitred folder,
or rename the desired folder to the default name which is expected by the gsme without using ine.editor,
i.e \data, \data-1.13 or \data-ub.
