Trying to play JA2 with 1.13 mod but whenever I scroll into the lower left corner of Omerta on the first day it just hangs :< any suggestions

Try to go in an hour later.
For me often helped when always crashing at the same time.
If you still crash than, go down to the sector you're in and sit out time there till after the (in game time) you crash.
