I was wondering if you fine folks in the GOG community could let me know if you're using the 1.13 mod for JA2, and how you find it for useability and such?
Basically, I'm almost through with a JA2 campaign, (just into Meduna), and I was looking to install the 1.13 mod for my next playthrough.
Before that though, I'd really like to hear of peoples experiences and how worthwhile it is, and how much of the mod you use (as it allows a lot of editing and configuration possibilities.)
have it and like it, best thing is that you can setup 1.13 as you want - from nearly same as vanilla to third world war.
Do it for yourself and install 1.13. After that, you will never play "clean" JA2 again, I guarantee.
Theres only a few things I would change about JA2, so I'm worried that the 1.13 mod will alter a lot of the settings that I would prefer to keep "vanilla".
what i remember, you can setup 1.13 to behave like original vanilla except more guns :)
finished JA2 the other day (v1.12), and decided to try the 1.13 mod, it's an exciting experience!
I can't believe how many weapons there are, mind boggling!
Some of the features I like a lot, others I may need more time to appreciate. Gives a whole new experience.
Well, I'm a few days into using it, and while on the whole it's been a good way of getting extra milage out of a game, there seem to be certain things which are beyond your control with regards to modification.
I've also had a particularly annoying experience (possibly completely unrelated to the 1.13 patch) in which I had a lovely rooftop position and was prone two squares from the edge, yet got peppered with machine gun fire. I have no idea how that line of sight was calculated, seems bizarre to me (larger building in SAM site below Chitzena).
I also got one really wierd battle in Drassen (the mine sector), where I though I was getting attacked by a dozen redshirts, but I got attacked from all four sides of the map by around 30 troops. Very bizarre, can only assume the enemy can do simultaneous attacking?
just restarted JA2 with 1.1.3 a few days ago. It's like a brand new game! The inventory system seems super cool now.
Heard Bobby Ray's gun shop is transformed into the Walmart of guns. Can't wait til I get to that stage! ^_^

Bobby Ray's is indeed, insane, assuming you set it up that all guns are available. I had a character with 74 Firearms and picked up an MSG-90 or an SVD, some kind of high powered sniper rifle. Wasted the troops for a good 3-4 cities before it got really challenging.
The 1.13 mod is just f*cking awesome. It has a few minor bugs but everything else is just great.

I agree, regarding the inventory system. It reminds me of how I felt in the first game, getting that first three or four pocket vest. I will say this: I'm not sure I get how each piece (TIMS, three day pack) is compatible with each other, and which ones are NOT compatible.
