Just for fun. What is your starting team and how does your team progress with regards to new members? I will start.

So, my starting team was Grunty, Vinny, Hector, Hurl, Beth, It, Larry and Tex. I know it's redundant to hire eight mercs for the first day., but this is the quickstart team that is found in a built-in savegame when in a fresh install. I wanted to try this team, only I changed the difficult to easy.

Vinny was mostly a stay-behind mechanic, Hurl and Beth were used as doctors as needed, Larry doubled as an explosives expert and a doctor. I also used Grunty as a field mechanic, although his rating in this skill isn't too high, but it's higher than that of the rest of the team.

Tex died sometime relatively early, somewhere in the first two weeks if I remember correctly, so I hired Screw as a second mechanic. By the way, his line when you try to use the hand on him cracks me up: gonna a be a bitch tying your shoes with one hand, or something like that.

Sometime later, all my mercs have progressed to level two or three, except It and Larry.. First, I fired Larry and brought in Rusty as an explosives expert. I like him. A little later, I fired It and replaced him with Pops. I was really curious about him, but his very low agility is a big drawback, son.

Eventually I replaced Beth and Hurl with two doctors, Bernie and Cliff.

At the point where I had around $110.000 I figured it's time to start spending money, so I gave in and hired Mike. He is like he had come from The Expendables.

There was one day when Pops died in sector 43, and Grunty in sector 42. They were replaced by Kelly and Sidney. This is my current team and I am three sector away from finishing the game, I plan to do it with this team.

Later on in the game I hire some additional mercs like Magic, Mike and Scully.
Sometimes I use a doc/medic, sometimes I don't. All my mercs with medical higher than 0 carry something to treat wounds.
Jagged Alliance was one of the many games I missed in my "lost years" of computer gaming between 1993-1996, so I'm currently playing it for the first time

Tried to recruit The Fox, but I guess a Dork Squad with Kaboom, Speck and Hurl wasn't sexy enough for her, so I recruited Doc Koolhan (who sounds like a serious version of the Simpons family doctor) the second day.

I find it hard to avoid my mercs being hit, so having eight of them means 2-4 of them can be off duty repairing and recuperating.
Kaboom has surprised me most positively so far. His movement rate is good and he's the one with the most kills so far.

The game reminds me somewhat of Baldur's Gate, what with the general look and size of the maps, the voiced lines of your squad, possible in-fighting and the possibilty of scouting (using stealth if you want) the area. I wonder if BG was inspired by Jagged Alliance?
