I successfully have the 1.13 mod installed. Is there a way to turn off the new features of 1.13 so I can play 1.12 or whatever the latest official version is? I just want to play the original first. Yes, I can just install and play but I can't play in widescreen without it stretching. Unless there's a way to run the game windowed without 1.13? I'm new to the series and suck at strategic games. I hear 1.13 is even more difficult. I want to get a feel for the original game first. Thank you.

1.13 isnt really more difficult.. but it does have more features (and is more fun imo!). If you want the vanilla game experience you can do the following:

Install JA2 from the GoG downloader (best to use something easy like c:\ja2)
Extract JA2 1.13 into the JA2 install directory
Open the JA2 install folder
Run the ini editor (Ini Editor.exe)
From the ja2 v1.13 mod drop down list, pick vfs_config.JA2Vanilla.ini
You can set your Game Screen Resolution to whatever you like
I have to disbale the into as well, otherwise I just get a black screen on startup.
Click the disk icon to save or File->Save in the menu bar
Click Launch JA2 v1.13 to play the game.

When you're ready to play 1.13 mod, change the ja2 v1.13 mod drop down back to vfs_config.JA2113.ini

Thanks. I just wanted to experience the Vanilla experience first. But I also don't want the game stretched or pixelated, etc. If I can't run it in fullscreen I'd rather run it in a window. This is the only way I see of running the game in a window other than maybe using a VM.

I can set any resolution via 1.13? Or just the 3 provided?

Sorry about the late reply. It's just the 3 if you're running the official JA2 1.13 release. I believe the unstable versions have customizable resolution but I'm not 100% on that. If you want to play through the whole game without any issues, I suggest sticking with the official release. You can get lucky and finish an unstable release without problems... or you could be saddled with a game breaking bug half way through.

It seems that now, when you use the latest version of the 1.13 mod (I don't know since which version), when you use the launcher to launch the game, you can select if you want to launch the 1.13 mod or the vanilla version of the game.
