Was anyone aware of this? Quite good news for JA fans who own a DS.
Just wanted to post this :D
Interesting idea, but I always thought the ideal thing to port to the DS would be lucasarts and sierras old adventure games (for the Wii too, are you listening nintendo?).
I doubt I would pick this up, I would worry too much about the control system and graphical limitations (from the small screen size).
All very valid points.
Tactical games work on DS when they have small map sizes, JA would work if they made the maps about 75% of the size, something that most would not favor.
I hope they utilise the stylus well to emulate a mouse.
And don't ask Nintendo for Lucasarts to come to the wii/ds ask Lucas Arts not to abandon videogames altogether, they pretty much shut down video game production after their latest game and also refused to bring it to the PC.

If you're willing to get some homebrew stuff, you can find ScummVM for DS. I once downloaded and tried Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle on it. Mostly out of curiosity though, so I deleted the games afterwards, since I don't own the games, and I just do not have any interest in point and click adventures.
Picked it up and gave it a try tonight. They did a pretty good job, and it is indeed pretty awesome to play Jagged Alliance on a small handheld :D
My main and only real complaint with it is that the mouse controls don't transfer as well as they should over to the DS. You will find yourself clicking and accidentally sending a merc off in one direction on accident now and then.
If you are patient and can work around the rough edges of the control scheme, there is a lot to enjoy here. It IS the first JA though, so don't expect any updated JA:2 quality graphics.. it's pretty much a straight port.

I heard that they made some pretty big changes - namely, there is no weapon/item degradation. That kinda removes a big part of why some mercs were Important. Is that true?
