Hi :)
please excuse my newbie post, but I couldn't find similar topic on the forum and I'm kinda stuck in that situation.
Here's the problem :
Everytime (tested 4 times so far) I (re)install DA:DG :
1) The first time I launch the game there is no "lag", no stuttering, no audio glitches, everything is working perfectly, I can load and save games without any problem.
=> This is heaven.
2) The second time I launch the game, it's having a 1 sec freeze every 10 seconds, audio glitch, then after 2 or 3 minutes it crashes (with some numbers and game's code displayed for a few ms), even if I don't do anything in the game.
3) All the next time I launch the game (without uninstalling-reinstalling it), it's either freezing on the intro video, on loading, on the campaign/mission launching, -or- it's crashing after having serious graphical glitches (the colors are all messed up ; and/or the screen is 100% black except where I'm passing my cursor, like if I was removing the black fog) and it's constantly lagging.
=> This is hell.
nb : I haven't witnessed a memory leak bug in the Task Manager, I don't what that bug is about.
I'm on a notebook, a Dell XPS M1530 :
- Windows Vista SP2 x86 (32 bits)
- nVidia Geforce 8600M GT 256 Mo
- 2 Gb of RAM
- single (C:) HDD
The Windows Vista UAC is disabled.
There is only one account (administrator) on that computer.
I ran the game "as administrator" (the right click option) to be sure it wasn't the problem.
I tried all graphic mode : Overlay, Surface (default), Direct3D, OpenGL, DDraw. None of them worked (the glitches/bugs were slightly different though).
I tried redownloading the game installer. No effect.
I just made a clean install of my computer (due to recent NTFS table crash), so there's no tons of programs clogging up the system.
I disabled the antivirus (Eset Nod32) right after the first installation (and kept it off for the next 3 installations). No effect
I tried 2 different drivers for my graphic card : the one on the Dell dvd (2008 something) and the most recent one from nVidia. No effect.
I'm running out of idea, and I don't think I'll keep reinstalling it and transferring my saves everytime I want to launch it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I would like to try the Jagged Alliance series ;)
...
edit : (removed useless addendum)
I reinstalled it again, after redownload + reboot + drivers reinstallation + no antivirus + run as administrator, I could launch it three time without the previously mentionned problem, I hope it will last !
ps : how are you supposed to accomplish the last mission of the tutorial campaign ?
It says something like "Secure the intel - if they see you they'll destroy it", they give me 6 silencers, 2 berettas and an uzi (the silencers can't fit a m14 :( ) but :
- the access to the house is heavily guarded (you can't kill 3 to 4 guards in one turn ! And once a guard shot his non-silenced pistol, game over),
- camouflage is useless : you can't move through the jungle and even crouching & sneaking, which cost 2x AP per movement and 2 AP at stop, don't change anything, they spot you 10 squares away.
Am I supposed to swim around the island or build a wooden raft with the crates ? ^^
