I just installed JA DOS and realized that you can quick save / load anytime. Was it official patch or unofficial patch, just asking...

I bought the original CD back in 1996, and you could set save anytime option on or off when you started a new game.
In the original Floppy version, you could only quick save when there was no enemy on the map. The optional "quick save anywhere" feature was added with one of the later patch or the CD version. So it is a legit feature.
Thanks blueskirt42!
I had no idea there was a floppy version too, blueskirt.

So what other differences were there between floppy and cd versions? Did the floppy version have full speech for mercs.

How many floppies were there by the way?
Mobygames seems to indicate that the disk version (what I really meant when I said "floppy version") had eight disks. And from my memories of playing it in my childhood, it was exactly like the CD version, except you could not quick save during battles (only in safe territory), there were more bugs since it wasn't v1.13 yet, and the only speech in the game were the grunts ("Yes?" "OK" "Crap" "Empty" "Ouch!"...) that mercenaries say on the battlefield, every other mercenary quotes were text only.
Thanks for the info!
