I can remember in my old CD version of JA2 it was possible to raise the agility stat by using the stealth mode and moving while the merc sees an enemy and is not seen by them. This does not work anymore in this version (just the vanilla installation of gog).
Has this behavior been changed in a specific version or is this an issue that I cannot identify?

This was patched, agility nowadays is rising only when enemy can see you being in stealth. Therefore you need to find enemy's border of sight and start running, preferably ending turn out of view. Perhaps a good place to train will be a river with cats.
