Hello,

It's amazing what you can find sometimes in the game, in fact I discovered that you can be in the red with a negative money (eg - $ 9,999) and thus not paying your men at the end of the day.

This will cause a dialogue on their part, and if mercs else will be in the team that moment, some leave angry and have a different type of dialogue.

Here are some dialogues that I discovered :

Not paying your men

Static
"This reminds of the early days,man... Bad bar bands, broken buses and some money-grubbing manager offering a weak excuse instead of a paycheck!"

Pops
"I don't believe this! The fledging is ripping me off! Half a step away from retirement, and you've got your hands in my pocket"

One of your men threatens to leave

Jimmy
I didn't come all the way down here for excuses! You aren't coughing the cash you owe people I'm blowing off this island!

Ice
You're handing out many bum checks! Better find yourself somebody who doesn't care.

To change this value you must use a software like "Artmoney" (which can search and change a value in memory) and enter a negative value and freeze this value, but beware if after one of your men has left the value is still negative you will cause a game over, you must then submit a positive value while the merc has its dialogue display to prevent this game over.

Yes, I found out about it too. You can do it the "legit" way, by simply having very little money and then having the enemies take over one of your sap-producing sectors so you'll be in the negative by the end of the day.

What's more, if you have lots of those "non-payments", some mercs will refuse to join you when you try to hire them from AIM. e.g. (from memory, and can't recall who it was): "Although I could use a job, what I really could use is the money. And you could use a better reputation for paying your mercs."
Thank you for you information. ^^

Here is a list of all the quotes I could find so far :

Vinny
I can't work for ya! Da ways you pays people, yous' lucky you got knees!
Sorry for the double-post.

For info, I planned to make a video gathering all these quotes for JA 1, I put it on my Youtube account.

I already scammed and then record on video 43 mercs. xD
Probably one of the weirdest part of merc behavior is that they will go back to work to you if you failed to pay them (after youll repay the owed); while being fired after doing some work for you and receiving agreed payment for it s a something unforgivable, so no rehire is possible.

DarzaR: while being fired after doing some work for you and receiving agreed payment for it s a something unforgivable, so no rehire is possible.
This is the one thing I found weird in this game. I'd have expected some mercs to work for you again. But apparently all of them consider getting "fired" the one thing which is a big no-no.
I'm pretty sure they're fine with getting fired as long as they were hired for a decent amount of time. But firing people after one day does indeed ruffle some feathers.

No, possible (but hardly believable) you mix it with changing other mercs attitude to you ("my friend is fired, ill ask for a double salary" thing), as it generally work the way you describe it . Or you mix it with some other game you played, that is not JA1 (topic name clearly state its about JA1 (of course there is no game called JA1, as in reality it simply named "Jagged Alliance" aka "JA", but using of generalized "JA" without numerical signature will ensure a stream of JA2 fanboys with "as that topic is about JA, i'll share some banal JA2 facts with you without asking or even getting what i'm doing wrong, coz i honestly believe what JA is only some shortening for JA2, used by some weird people with unknown goal for" (actually even the using of numerical designation of JA1 (to clearly distinguish from JA2) will not stop them entirely, tested and proved in a wild nature))).

Sorry for OT but there cant be banalities in JA2 related messages
as the game itself is copletely free of any,
in opposition to its predecessors, which JA2 surmounts in every of their much fewer aspects,
except the legendary "tell em Magic sent ya", but that was introduced with DG :p

You either misread the words i wrote, or something else.
"a stream of JA2 fanboys with "as that topic is about JA, i'll share some banal JA2 facts" < one can easily share a banal fact about game, even if that game itself is copletely free of any (suppose we temporally will accept that theory). Easy examples could be a post "hey guys, i don't really checked what you was about, but in chess rook can be used to knock out opponent's figures" in some chess thread about advanced debutes (post about rook is technically right, but useless as it purely banal, it "share" a knowledge obviously already known by participants). Or in a purely JA example "hey, you can train strength by carrying heavy items, and also shooting will increase your marksmanship!" in a thread about JA1 stats and how they do change (post about strength & marksmanship as a whole is right only for JA2 (as there is no strength in JA1, so poster even have no idea he's about) , and still reveal only most basic and widely used facts (banal ones), not contributing anything meaningful into a thread (there was a Bearpit thread bout it with nice fanboys examples )) . Another JA-related example is the quoted above post (assuming a theory bout that game itself is copletely free of any is right (otherwise its not banal, but plain wrong)).

Also last time i checked JA2 was a game generally based on JA1 code, but with a way worse graphics and with gameplay shifted from checkers-like squad tactics into some munchkin RPG junk (also laden with bugs). 1.13 patch/mode introduced some fixes to it tho (while keeping 2 main problems above generally intact).
