I am not sure if this is gold or not. I don't see the Jagged Alliance 2 gold for sale anywhere on GOG. Is that needed for 1.1.3 modding? DO I need gold if this is not gold?

Don't know what you mean with gold. The version on gog is patched to 1.12, which is the latest official patch. You can run mods on this version just fine, 1.13 as well as straciatella.

Well on steam they have JA2 class and gold. It sounds like I just need JA2 like you are saying however.

Okay, so after short research it seems that the Gold version on steam is a bundle with JA 2 and Unfinished Business, which is on gog as well but sold seperately:

Unfinished Business is a stand alone addon for JA2 with a short and linear campaign that is quite okay on its own but doesn't reach the quality the base game has. Back in the day the editor was the main reason to buy UB and the first mods were for UB, but nowadays all modding is done for the base game and neither 1.13 nor straciatella support UB.
