Yes, Single player only. Back then Multiplayer was the second choice over the single player experience.

There is a multi-player mod, through the 1.13 mod(meaning you have to first install 1.13, then install the multi-player mod IIRC) but I cannot say how good or bad it is. I am not in any way interested in multi-player JA2. It is one of those games that really shines as a single player game.

I hope you did buy the game after all. Multiplayer in 1.13 is awesome, especially given how many shit tons of new equipment it adds. It really makes an already complex strategy game even more complex, making it all the more better to play with (or against) a friend.
