Okay, this is driving me a little crazy. I hope someone can help me.

I'm running vanilla JA2 on W7 (64bit). I have read the manual, created my own merc, hired a couple of others, found Fatima, talked to Miguel, and recruited Ira. The next step is to travel to Drassen.

The manual tells me to go to the map screen, click on the DEST column for any merc, and then double-click on sector B13. I have done all that and nothing happens. No, I haven't left it in Pause mode. I have sped up time, but my guys just aren't moving.

I really don't know what to do here. Please help.

Ok, let's take this step by step:

1)All of your mercs are assigned to the same squad right? I.e 'Squad 1'...?

2) When you (single?) click in the "Destination" column you are getting the 'walking' cursor which you then click on 'B-13'/Drassen Airport, turning the cursor into a check mark?

3) You then click on the 'fast forward' arrow to increase time elapsing to '60(or 30 or whatever) minutes, but at this point time just keeps spinning but your mercs just sit in Omerta?

Is there anything else weird going on like the cursor becoming a stopwatch? Can you go back to the tactical map at all?

I have essentially the same problem. Though I can leave Omerta. When I get to the first grid box outside of town, I always run into enemy soldiers. I fight them, kill them, and take any of their stuff that I can find and then try to move on. That is were the movement locks up for me.
I have never been able to get a “walking cursor” or a “checkmark” but I DO sometimes get an arrow pointing from Omerta’s right hand grid box to the next one over. I THINK that I’m doing everything right, but the manual and most “hint” sites seem to skip over some pretty basic stuff, so I may be missing a step or two. (Also, I am partially color blind, so if something changes from, for example, dark blue to dark green… I can’t tell that anything happened.)

Okay I think I know what is up here. You have already selected your destination but you got into a fight on the way (which will always happen at this stage). Now that you have won the fight and collected items and such you need to click the 'continue' button (somewhere in that map/strategic screen, not in the tactical-game screen) to get them walking again towards their destination (the airport).
